The campgrounds sit 10 km from Banff Town. So, you can easily reach them by bus, especially if you are travelling without a car. Also, the campgrounds sit close to Cascade Ponds, Johnson Lake, and Lake Minnewanka. This convenient location attracts campers throughout the year.
Moreover, nothing beats paddleboarding on Two Jack Lake with towering mountains in the background. The lake stays sheltered from the wind, so you can enjoy kayaking, canoeing, and paddleboarding with ease. If you want more adventure, you can even take a quick dip in its icy-cold waters.

Campsite Choices At Two Jack Lake
You can choose from more than 400 campsites across the two campgrounds.
Two Jack Lakeside campground is more picturesque but smaller. Two Jack Main also sits nestled in the woods across a larger area. During peak season, the chances of availability are greater at Two Jack Main campground.
It’s important to note here that both the campgrounds are un-serviced. As a result, you won’t find any electrical hook-ups for motorhomes. Meanwhile, most campsites at the two campgrounds can accommodate around six campers. In addition, some larger sites allow RVs of limited sizes. You can also choose from unique options such as oTENTik sites, equipped sites, and walk-in sites.
Two Jack Lakeside Campground
If you’re lucky, you can secure a spot at the Two Jack Lakeside Campground. There, you can pitch your tent just steps from the shore of Two Jack Lake. Plus, the campground offers convenient facilities, including dishwashing stations, firewood, shelters, washrooms, drinking taps, and food lockers. While all the 74 sites here are marvellous, the walk-in sites deserve a special mention.
There are a total of 22 walk-in sites lining the shore of Two Jack Lake and offering fantastic views. However, these sites can only accommodate a small tent suited for 4 people. You need to park your vehicle at a central spot and walk for around 50 meters till the spot. The oTENTik offers a unique blend of a cabin and a tent. There are 10 oTENTik structures at the Lakeside Campground for a low maintenance wilderness experience. It can accommodate beds for a maximum of 6 people. Some other amenities available here are wooden deck chairs, electric heater, lighting, picnic area and outdoor firepit.
The Two Jack Lakeside Campground remains operational between May and October. The months of July and August receive the maximum footfall.
Two Jack Main Campground
The Two Jack Main Campground comprises of 380 sites set around 44 loops. This can guarantee you complete privacy while camping in the wild. Tall coniferous trees surround the campsite, so you can easily hang your hammocks between them. Additionally, you can access shared amenities such as water taps, washrooms, cooking shelters, and firewood.
Meanwhile, the equipped sites at Two Jack Main Campground come with canvas tents that can accommodate up to six people. They also have cook-stoves, sleeping cots and fuel. These options are perfect for first time campers. The Two Jack Main Campground remains operational between the middle of June to early September.
Permits & Reservations
- Purchase a National park pass online or on arrival at Banff National Park. It should be displayed in your vehicle during your entire stay.
- Book your camping site in advance either online or over phone. This booking information has to be presented upon arrival.
- In addition, you need a fire pit permit to use a campsite with a fire pit. The campsite reservation automatically includes a $12 fee.
