About Jasper Skytram

The Jasper Tramway was built in 1964 by engineer John Ogilvy and his team. Since then it has been offering breath-taking views of the Canadian Rockies, the Athabasca River and the beautiful town of Jasper to all its visitors.

Jasper Skytram stands out proudly as the longest and highest tram in Canada. It can take you to an elevation exceeding 7500 feet within a 7.7 minute time span. Tourists coming to Jasper during summer usually try out the Jasper Skytram. This leads to a heavy footfall and it’s recommended to book in advance for securing your spot.

Where is Jasper Skytram?

You can reach the base station of Jasper Skytram following a 10-15 minutes’ drive from the Jasper town. It’s advisable to reach 20 minutes prior to the time slot as boarding often starts early. There are two trams operational, each accommodating between 20-24 people. The views slowly start becoming expansive along the ride as you leave the tree line. You will find a small restaurant and a gift shop at the Summit Station.

The view you get to enjoy from the Summit Station is extremely rewarding. But for the best view you will have to hike up to Whistler’s Peak. If you have some experience in hiking, then you can keep up with the journey until you reach the Indian Ridge. There is no time limit on how long you can stay here. But make sure to hop onto the last cable car departing an hour after the last scheduled ascent.
